Two months ago during my trip in Almería (which I already mentioned here), I had the chance to try an app on ornithology: “Mediterranean Birds App”. The app is part of the International Project of Ornithological Tourism (IPOT) coordinated and managed by SEO/Birdlife in Spain, Birdlife Cyprus, Greece (HOS), portugal (SPEA) and Birdlife International.
This app gives us information on Important Bird Areas (IBAs). The information is available browsing from a list or just (my favourite) checking the map. Then, you can get info from Spain, Greece, Portugal and Cyprus. Each IBA contains a map and all the references to habitats, birds and non-birds relevant species. On the other hand, you can browse all the information of a bird species checking its record.
So, this is basically a portable atlas and bird encyclopedia, very useful to check the nature areas of our next trip.
It is available here.
